Platform Rules

Last updated: May 2026

Welcome to PaperToProd. These rules exist to make the platform fair, transparent, and safe for everyone. By registering, you agree to follow them.

1. How Work Gets Done

  1. A Client posts a job describing the CAD work needed.
  2. Designers send proposals with a quote and estimated timeline.
  3. The Client accepts one proposal. The Client pays upfront. The money is held in escrow — the platform holds it, not the designer.
  4. The Designer does the work and submits it through the platform.
  5. The Client reviews the work and approves it. The designer gets paid.

2. Revisions and Revision Quotes

Revisions are part of the creative process. Each Designer decides what they can reasonably deliver as part of their quoted price — this is up to the Designer and should be discussed in the proposal before the Client accepts.

A standard revisionis a reasonable adjustment within the original brief — for example: tweaking proportions, stone placement, prong style, or minor design details. Whether a revision is included or not is the Designer's call.

A scope change goes beyond the original brief — changing the entire design concept, adding elements that were never in the spec, or restarting from scratch. When a request is a scope change, the Designer can send a Revision Quote with an extra charge and estimated delivery date. The Client can accept or decline.

If there is a disagreement about whether a request is a standard revision or a scope change, either party can raise a dispute.

3. Payments and Escrow

  • The Client pays before work starts. This protects the Designer from non-payment.
  • The money is held in escrow — the platform keeps it until the Client approves the work.
  • The Designer's wallet is credited the full quoted amount when the Client approves.
  • Clients pay no platform fee— the total is the designer's quote plus standard payment processing (3%), shown before you pay.
  • The platform's only fee is charged when a Designer withdraws, based on the withdrawal amount: 15% under $200, 10% from $200, 5% from $400. Larger withdrawals pay a lower rate, and the fee is shown before you confirm.

4. When to Raise a Dispute

As a Client, you can raise a dispute if:

  • The designer has gone silent and keeps delaying the agreed timeline
  • The delivered work is significantly different from what was described in the job brief
  • The CAD files are technically defective (cannot be used for manufacturing)

As a Designer, you can raise a dispute if:

  • The client is requesting scope changes without agreeing to a Revision Quote
  • The client is withholding approval without providing any reason
  • The client has stopped responding for an unreasonable time

Disputes are NOT valid for:

  • Subjective taste (“I don't like the style now”)
  • Decisions the Client made in the original brief that they've changed their mind about
  • Quality issues that fall within normal professional variation

5. How Disputes Are Resolved

  1. Either party raises a dispute through the job page.
  2. All job actions are paused — no new work submissions, no approvals, no revisions.
  3. The Dispute Manager reviews: the full chat history between client and designer, all files submitted, the original job brief, and these Platform Rules.
  4. The Dispute Manager decides one of:
    • Full payment to Designer — the work meets the brief.
    • Full refund to Client — the work is genuinely undeliverable or the Designer abandoned the job.
    • Split — both parties share some responsibility. The Dispute Manager decides the percentage.
    • Dismissed — the dispute does not meet valid grounds (see Section 4). Work resumes from where it left off.
  5. The Dispute Manager's decision is final. There is no further appeal.

Expected resolution time: 2–5 business days.

6. Communication Rules

Before a contract starts: Keep all communication on the platform. Conversations are the evidence if a dispute arises.

After a contract starts: You may exchange contact details, but all deliverables (CAD files, renders, approvals) must go through the platform. This keeps the work record complete.

7. File Delivery Standards

All final deliverables must be submitted as usable files:

  • 3D CAD files: .3dm, .stl, or .obj — production-ready
  • Renders: minimum 1000px on the long side, .jpg or .png
  • Technical drawings: dimensioned views if requested in the brief

Files that cannot be opened or are clearly placeholder/dummy files are grounds for a dispute.

8. Your Account

  • You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure.
  • One account per person. Fake accounts or impersonation will result in a permanent ban and forfeiture of any pending earnings.
  • The platform reserves the right to suspend any account that repeatedly violates these rules.

9. Governing Law

These rules and any disputes about them are governed by applicable law. By using the platform, you consent to this jurisdiction.
