Escrow & Payment Policy
Last updated: June 2026
PaperToProd uses milestone escrow so clients only pay for work they approve, and designers are guaranteed payment for approved work. Payments are processed by our payment provider, Razorpay.
1. How payment flows
- The client accepts a proposal and pays into escrow before work begins.
- The platform holds the funds — the designer is not paid yet.
- The designer completes and submits the work through the platform.
- On client approval, the designer's wallet is credited with their full quoted amount.
- The designer withdraws from their wallet to their bank account when they choose.
2. What the client pays
The client pays the designer's quote plus a payment-processing fee of 3% — the card/gateway transaction cost, passed through at cost. There is no platform fee for clients and no hidden markup, and the same numbers are shown on the job page, at checkout, and here.
Example: on a $100 quote, the client pays $103.00 ($100 quote + $3.00 processing), and the full $100 is credited to the designer's wallet on approval.
3. What the designer receives
The full quoted amount is credited to the designer's platform wallet on approval. The platform's only fee is charged when you withdraw, based on the size of the withdrawal (rates inclusive of all taxes):
- Withdrawals under $200 — 15%
- Withdrawals of $200 to under $400 — 10%
- Withdrawals of $400 or more — 5%
The rate applies to the whole withdrawal amount, so larger, less frequent withdrawals keep more in your pocket. The exact fee and the amount you'll receive are always shown before you confirm.
4. Withdrawals
Designers can request a withdrawal of their available wallet balance (minimum $10) at any time. Withdrawals are paid out through Razorpay to the designer's registered bank account. Payouts are typically processed within 2–5 business days. The withdrawal fee and the exact amount you'll receive are shown before you confirm; if a payout fails, the full withdrawn amount is returned to your wallet and no fee is charged.
Withdrawal fees already charged on completed payouts are not returned if the underlying job is later refunded through a dispute.
5. The escrow ledger
The platform maintains an internal escrow ledger that records every payment, hold, release, refund, and payout. This ledger — not any bank balance — is the authoritative record of what is owed to whom, and it is used to resolve any payment question or dispute.
6. Refunds
Before a proposal is accepted no payment has been taken, so a client can close an open job at no cost. Once a proposal is accepted and escrow is funded, the client's payment can be returned by our support team if work has not been delivered; if the parties cannot agree, either side can raise a dispute. See our Refund Policy for the scenarios and how to request a refund.
7. Currency and taxes
Amounts shown on the platform are in US dollars unless stated otherwise; your bank or card issuer may apply currency conversion. You are responsible for any taxes that apply to your own earnings or purchases.
